Training
Is there a way to get stronger without building visible muscle or getting big?

Okay so I (16M) have been working out a lot recently but pretty much neglecting my arms because I don't wanna get like super muscular (I like being a twig). My main focuses have been my abs and my legs but recently I decided if I wanna get stronger then I gotta train my arms too. I do "full body" workouts (meaning I'll train multiple parts of my body on some days and then the other parts on other days depending on where I want to be developed) and then I take a break for a full day. For example, M(workout) T(break) W(workout) T (break) etc etc. I've only done my arms twice since I started; the first time was the day before last and the second time was today and they're already getting bigger and more defined which is a no for me because I want shredded abs, my tiny slutty little waist, big ass legs, and my thin arms but I also wanna be be strong. I guess it's called a sleeper build? Idk; what do I do?

yes. calisthenics puts more of a priority on relative strength than general hypertrophy imo. its possible to get strong while still not putting on mass (to an extent)

You鈥檙e not gonna get visibly shredded accidentally or overnight. Do strength training, you can stop when and if you start bulking too much.

You will never get super big without actively trying to for years and years. It just won't happen.

just do calisthenics, find the amount of calories you need to stay the same weight or even a very slight surplus, and stick to it. you'll get a lot stronger (up to a point) but there will come a point where you need to get bigger to get stronger

Fuck. I got too big again. Hate it when that happens.

Strength is about mainly 2 things: muscle size and neurological adaptations. If you look at Olympic strength athletes, you will see that year after year most of them keep their weight category but their personal records continue to improve. As long as your caloric intake is at maintenance (meaning you keep your weight over time), and your training is following strength principles (instead of hypertrophic), you will gain strength without much muscle. P.S. most likely you don't have the genetics to get 'super muscular'. Most people don't have the necessary genetics.

I get that but the thing is I'm already building visible muscle which I do not want. Maybe a little definition is fine but I enjoy being skinny. I've never been the kind of guy to complain about being a twink 馃槶

He鈥檚 bulked after 2 workouts

The thing is that鈥檚 not happening after two sessions. In fact, most weight increases for the first few MONTHS of training weights are from acclimating to the movement, then weight increases drop off heavily after you finally learn how to best to do the movement. Any changes in your physique are from fat, not from muscle for quite some time.

Why does reddit insist that every single person has the same experiences. I created this post with the intention of preventing what I mentioned. Why tf would I lie? What reason do I have?

Reddit is full of people who hate themselves and you by the slightest association. When you recognize that, all the trolling and toxicity makes sense.

Do you know what a pump is? You will get bigger while you鈥檙e working out. The blood鈥檚 gonna flow into your muscles while you鈥檙e using them. But that鈥檚 gonna go away after half an hour or so. Your best bet is to strength train using progressive overload. Track measurements of your muscles in the morning when you wake up. Measure your arms circumference once a week or so. You can add quite a lot of strength without bulking. Especially if you鈥檙e not eating excess calories to fuel a bulk. Bulking takes years (or steroids). Check out the physiques in the natural bodybuilding subs, and look at how long it took people to accomplish what they did. You鈥檝e got a few years before this becomes a thing. This sub is about bodyweight fitness. Calisthenics.
